Bursitis

I have been doing lots of reading and research about knees and I came to a conclusion that I have Bursitis happening, which is inflammation in the knee that causes a small sac of fluid to swell. This is due to all the constant pressure, compression and twisting of the knee I have been doing lately snowboarding. Looks like I’m going to have to take a couple of weeks off, however, my season is not over! I still have a couple months left! Lots of icing the knee, resting and electric shock / massage therapy. At first I was skeptical of the the electric shock therapy but now I am use to it, I really find it helps with my injuries. I had a back injury early this year with the same thing, my lower muscles in my back were inflamed and irritated and I used the electric shock therapy a few times and it felt like it loosened the muscles up. My new years resolution was to start taking better care of my body but with the activities I do, it doesn’t allow me to take it easy, or at least I don’t want to. Since I am stubborn at times, I now know when to listen to my body and learn to rest and allow myself to be ok with this. It’s hard, don’t get my wrong but patience is a virtue!

This is a photo I found on the net but i have made tons of these. Use dish soap in plastic zip lock bags. I double bag mine.

I do not have this particular electric shock therapy device but it is similar (I think mine might be a knock off) Regardless, all athletes should invest in one.

Making videos with friends

Over the Easter long weekend we decided to head up to the mountains in the back country to build some features to have fun on. What a great way to spend time with friends and enjoy the sun, building shit. Absolutely my favourite thing to do. Kenny had to transport us girls 2 at a time since we only had one sled, but on the way down the girls rode down where as I rode on the sled with Kenny because I tweaked my knee, again, for the second time. Regardless of my knee.. it was still an amazing time getting the crew together. I can’t wait for more times like these in the nearer future. Friends: Sarah Smith, Katie Bush, Marie Racine, and Kenny Edwards

Kenny and I scoped out this log jib a month before we decided to jib it.

Wanderlust: Erin Comstock Career Retrospective

Erin Comstock, another favourite rider of mine. I must say I grew up reading SBC Canada, Transworld Snowboard Mag and would save every single add that I found of her. She was and still is an inspiration and I am so lucky and privileged to have spent a couple days riding with her up at Seymour while Vancouver/ Whistler were hosting the Olympics in 2010. What a great webisode that Roxy and Peepshow put together of her snowboard career, she is still Killing it!
